The billionaire Elon Musk, who is on the list of potential trillionaires, responded to singer Taylor Swift on his platform X regarding her support for Kamala Harris. Musk did so in his typical bold and ironic style, which led to a flood of criticism from Swift’s fans. Lux provides the details.
As is known, after the debates, Taylor Swift wrote a lengthy post expressing her support for Kamala Harris, who is running for U.S. President. Swift signed her message: “Taylor Swift. Childless cat lady.” This was a reference to a statement made three years ago by Donald Trump’s associate J.D. Vance, who claimed that America was run by a “bunch of childless cat ladies.” He also described them as “unhappy” and “irrelevant to America.”
In his X profile, Elon Musk wrote a response to Swift’s post: “Alright, Taylor… you won… I’ll give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”
This remark was very poorly received by Swift’s fans, who call themselves Swifties. They say it was one of the most offensive things Musk has ever said. Here are some comments:
“Is this what you write when you have 197 million followers? Harris won the debate today, and now you want to give Taylor Swift, who has no interest in you, a child? Is this some kind of alpha-male dominance to feel strong and masculine? Does this work?”;
“Am I correct in understanding that you are offering to have a child with Taylor Swift?”;
“Will Taylor Swift’s fans now buy Teslas?”;
“How rude! Undoubtedly, this planet is still struggling with decent coexistence. Even after centuries, the female body remains the primary target when a woman’s thoughts/voice touches male ego.”
