A person known as “The Tree Man” has dealt with significant challenges due to a rare condition that causes severe malformations in his hands. Despite facing numerous obstacles and undergoing multiple surgeries, he has found deep joy in being able to hold his daughter once again, thanks to his unwavering determination and the skill of medical professionals.
Abul Bajandar, hailing from Bangladesh, is afflicted by a rare condition called ’Tree Man’ Syndrome, a hereditary disorder that results in non-contagious and currently incurable skin growths resembling tree bark. Surgeries only provide temporary relief for this condition, which leads to significant disabilities for those affected. Abul’s struggles are shared by others around the world dealing with this syndrome.
The syndrome causes tree bark-like skin growths starting as small bumps that can grow extensively. Abul’s condition first appeared during his adolescence and worsened rapidly as he grew older, affecting various parts of his body.
Between 2016 and 2017, Abul underwent 16 surgeries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in Bangladesh, achieving a significant milestone when he could hold his daughter once more. These surgeries aimed to remove the bark-like lesions from his hands and feet, offering hope in his battle against Tree Man Syndrome.
Despite the frustrating return of his condition, Abul remains hopeful and resilient. Although doctors observed the recurrence of the syndrome, Bajandar remains optimistic and states, “My only dream is to recover from this situation and live a healthy life.”
His sincere words not only reflect his personal struggle but also a universal yearning for health and recovery. Bajandar’s enduring hope is evident as he expresses, “All I can say is that I truly believe and hope that a cure exists for this disease.” In the face of adversity, his spirit remains strong, representing the courage of those battling rare and challenging medical conditions.
