Nicole Kidman, the American actress who had faced criticism for her extremely thin appearance, had to leave the Venice Film Festival early due to a family tragedy. She was unable to accept her Best Actress award for her performance in the film “Baby.”
It was disclosed that Kidman’s mother had passed away, prompting her to depart the festival without receiving her award. The film’s director, Galina Rain, shared the news with the audience and read a message from Kidman expressing her profound sorrow.
“When I arrived in Venice today, I received the devastating news that my strong and beautiful mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had passed away. I am in shock and need to be with my family. This award has been a significant influence in my life, guiding and shaping me. I am immensely grateful to be able to mention her name to all of you through Galina. It is heart-wrenching to see life and art collide, and my heart is shattered. We appreciate all the love and support,” Kidman’s message conveyed.
It was also revealed that Kidman had previously spoken about her mother’s declining health while accepting the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award in April of this year. She emphasized her mother’s unwavering support throughout her childhood.
