The surviving cat meets a new canine sister and falls in love instantly

“He was struck the moment he saw her” ❤️️

Meet Cinder and Bridger McPurr, a pair of cat and dog brothers who can’t get enough of each other’s love.

Cinder and Bridger are part of Mojo’s Hope, a non-profit rescue group in Anchorage, Alaska. Both brothers come from very different backgrounds and have different needs, but they are both obsessed with cuddles. So naturally, they became best friends.

Cinder first joined Mojo’s Hope in 2015 after being found in the woods by a hiker with a litter of puppies.

“She lacked socialization and was very fearful,” Shannon Basner, owner of Mojo’s Hope, told The Dodo.

The hiker took Cinder to the Mat-Su Valley Shelter, where she stayed for six months getting the love and care she needed.

After six months, Cinder was transferred to Mojo’s Hope.

“IT IS [diventata] an amazing mentor to every new rescue that has come into our program,” Basner said. “He provided them with love, care and a safe place.”

“She entered our program and blossomed under our care,” Basner said. “She learned to trust us, and what we immediately saw from her was her incredibly caring and compassionate nature.”

Since joining Mojo’s Hope, Cinder has become close friends with all of her siblings on the program, especially the cats.

In July 2022, Mojo’s Hope welcomed a new kitten in need. The cat, who they named Bridger McPurr, was found outside in the cold and unable to move his legs.

“He was holding on to life,” Basner said.

Bridger’s rescuers picked him up and took him to Anchorage Animal Care and Control, where he received emergency medical care. After some time, Bridger’s legs still didn’t work properly, but his spirits were high.

“He perked up right away,” Basner said.

Soon after, Bridger arrived at Mojo’s Hope as a foster carer, ready to spread love throughout his new family.

“He was immediately purring non-stop,” Basner said. “She snuggled so deeply into the corner of my neck, just purring and kneading. It just showed that someone cared about him, someone loved him.

Because of Bridger’s love of cuddles, Basner knew Cinder would be a good friend to him. He introduced the two, and it was love at first sight for the brothers.

“Cinder gets really excited when she has her kitty friends to cuddle with,” Basner said. “With Bridger, she was very careful at first, as she knew she was very fragile.”

Cinder relaxed into her cuddles with Bridger, but the sweet cat didn’t back down when it came to loving his little sister.

“He was smitten the moment he saw her,” Basner said. “When he saw her, he lit up and started cuddling her.”

The two lovers have been attached to each other ever since. According to Basner, Bridger will snuggle next to Cinder and gently touch her face. He purrs loudly as she does.

“It’s beyond valuable,” Basner said. “No matter how many times we have seen it, it is truly the most beautiful and valuable sight!”

While Cinder is a permanent resident of Mojo’s Hope, Bridger is looking for a loving forever home. But his family at Mojo’s Hope is in no hurry to say hello to the cute cat.

“We’d love Bridger to connect with a wonderful home,” Basner said. “However, while he waits, he will continue to be loved, cared for and will always be a member of our Mojo’s Hope family.”
