The 91-year-old famous model showed her pictures from her youth

Despite her age, Carmen Dell’Orefice, 91, is now a sought-after and famous model.

She had her first modeling experience at the age of 14. Carmen took part in the filming for Vogue. She then won over most of the photographers with her beauty of hers.

Our heroine was born into the family of a ballerina and a violinist. They lived in poverty. After her parents divorced, she stayed with her mother. Her mother wanted her daughter to become a ballerina and gave her to ballet.

The girl was constantly criticized by her parents, because she was a strict and even somewhere rude woman, she constantly disliked the appearance of her daughter. Carmen considered herself ugly because she was the tallest and thinnest among her peers and she was not at all popular with boys.

Due to the great lack of money, the girl could live in a boarding school for months. She dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer, but after having rheumatism, this became impossible.

However, Carmen achieved a lot, at the age of 14 her modeling career began. In 1947, her photo was on the cover of Vogue.

The model admitted that she didn’t like this photo, when she saw her girlfriend almost crying: the hairstyle made her look like a boy.

The celebrity had a difficult childhood. She and her mother lived without many services, there wasn’t always enough money. They had to pawn a sewing machine to pay for the apartment. To pay for the electricity, they spent the whole month raising money. Now, with such a wealth of experience, a woman really knows how to value money and life.

In 1963, the model decided to end her career, but her agent laughed when he found out about this, because he knew that work is the life of our heroine.

In 1978, Carmen met Norman Parkinson, who brought her back into the world of fashion. The model accepted the offer, since her daughter was already an adult and the marriage broke up.

Most often, women try to hide age-related changes in their appearance. However, Carmen didn’t rejuvenate and didn’t dye her hair—in fact, she bleached it, making her silver hue the highlight of hers. In 1987, the woman was again very popular and in demand.

By the way, Carmen has written a book in which she shares her experience, entitled: «Being beautiful: secrets and techniques I learned in 40 years of modeling».

Indeed, when you look at the photographs of this amazing woman, you understand that the years have no power over her. She looks good. Now, as in her youth, she participates in performances and starred in advertising campaigns. Carmen shattered the stereotypes that 30 is the “ceiling” for a model.
