Donna sees a dog tied to a fire hydrant with a backpack filled with all of her favorite things

“You can rest a little easier knowing your child has a bright future ahead of them,” writes androdass.

This past weekend, a dog named Baby Girl sat stoically on the lawn of an inland street in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Leashed to a fire line, she could have just waited for her owner to return, which Kylie Rose Engelhardt initially allowed.

Luckily, Baby Girl didn’t stay alone in the freezer for long. Engelhardt noticed her and stopped to make sure she was okay. “(I sat outside with her for an hour to keep her warm until someone came back, but nobody came back,” Engelhardt wrote on Facebook.

The little girl was handed a package full of all her favorite things – food, treats and toys – and a heartbreaking note. When it became clear that Baby Girl had been abandoned, Engelhardt took her to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

“I made my own style, everyone,” Engelhardt wrote. “Believe me, it breaks my heart too.

The photo of the little girl left alone with her belongings attracted a lot of attention over the course of the week. And according to the sanctuary, the 5-year-old dog is fine.

“He’s doing well and getting a lot of attention from our staff,” Angela Speed, the sanctuary’s expedition vice president, told The Dodo. He is a happy and affectionate dog.

The Wisconsin Humane Society released a compassionate statement on Facebook, addressing Baby Girl’s former owner directly. The shrine explained that they understood how delicate it was to leave the baby when they felt they could no longer look after her.

“We know how difficult it is for someone to be separated from a loved pet and how traumatic it can be for the owner as well,” Speed said. “We really wanted to let the owner know that we weren’t judging them and that we saw the love in everything they did to get Baby Girl ready to be planted and sustained quickly.

The sweet letter read, “First of all, we are very sorry you had to part ways with your elegant friend,” the Wisconsin Humane Society wrote on Facebook. It is evident how much you loved it and we can see you made your own style as you dealt with your medical complications and life challenges. Let’s see your love in the bag that you have precisely prepared with all the favorite things about him.

We see your love in the way you tied the leash to prevent her from being hit by a car. We see your love in the way you placed her in the middle of a neighborhood where she would quickly be planted. We see your love in the happy and healthy look of Baby Girl. And we see your love in the note you left, struggling to find someone to help her when you couldn’t.

Baby Girl has completed her “wrong catch” and will be available for delivery in the next few days. Meanwhile, the sweet pooch is getting tons of cuddles from sanctuary staff and undergoing treatment for an alternative chance at a loving home.

“Rest assured that he is safe, getting tons of attention from our pack, and is expected to be reunited with his loving family very soon,” wrote the Wisconsin Humane Society. “You can rest a little easier knowing that your little girl has a bright future ahead of her.”
